Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, has received significant backlash after sending a message to Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, on May 29th, 2023.

Naija News reported that Bola Ahmed Tinubu took his oath of office on Monday, becoming the President of Nigeria for the next four years, unless ruled otherwise by the court.

Alongside Tinubu, 28 governors-elect and their deputies were also sworn in across the country.

Following Tinubu’s inauguration, Yul Edochie took to his Instagram account to congratulate the new president.

He wrote, “Congratulations to our new President and Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu @officialasiwajubat and His Excellency Kashim Shettima @kashimshettimaofficial.

May God give you all you need to lead our country to greater heights.”

Backlash and Criticism on Social Media

However, Yul Edochie’s post triggered a wave of criticism from many of his fans on social media, who expressed their disapproval in the comment section.

One user, ebysweden, criticized Yul Edochie for not running for the presidential seat and suggested that his political ambition was shallow.

The user wrote, “You were supposed to run for this seat but alas, you chose toto over your fellow youths…

Another user, iamdoziefineboi___, accused the actor of seeking attention and turning himself into a joke.
