In a brand-new limited series, Nicole Kidman and Maya Erskine are slated to feature.
The Perfect Nanny, a thriller based on a book by Lela Slimani, will also have Kidman serving as executive producer. Erskine will write the series’ script and serve as executive producer.
HBO outbid rivals to get the hot project from Legendary Entertainment.
The thriller by Slimani, originally titled Chanson Douce (Lullaby) in France, examines the connection that develops between a couple and the nanny they employ as it becomes more and more reliant. It was awarded the prestigious Prix Goncourt in France in 2016, and its translation quickly rose to fame elsewhere.
“A apparently ideal nanny begins to work for a couple with two small children, but her helping nature soon deteriorates into something evil,” states the logline for the HBO movie.
Following the critically acclaimed Big Little Lies and The Undoing, The Perfect Nanny will be Kidman’s third HBO film. Kidman recently appeared and executive produced Nine Perfect Strangers on Hulu. She is also a part of Taylor Sheridan’s forthcoming Lioness at Paramount+ and Amazon Prime Video’s Expats.
Erskine is now shooting Mrs. and Mrs. Smith for Prime Video, in which she co-stars with Donald Glover.
Along with Erskine, Pascal Caucheteux of Why Not Productions, and Philippe Godeau of Pan-Européenne, Kidman and her Blossom Films partner Per Saari will serve as executive producers.
