New princess Princess Charlotte will receive Princess Diana’s wedding tiara, not Kate Middleton

Her daughter Charlotte will receive Princess Diana’s wedding tiara, not Kate Middleton.
The title “Princess of Wales” was bestowed upon Kate after the passing of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday.
According to Hello! magazine, the tiara worn by her mother-in-law at her wedding belonged to the Spencer family.

Princess Diana’s bridal tiara may not pass to the future Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, but her daughter Princess Charlotte will.

In his first address as king, King Charles III granted Prince William and Kate the titles of Prince and Princess of Wales following the death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday. The couple has already modified their social media profiles to reflect their new positions.

Jake Epstein and Samantha Grindell of Insider noted that no one has borne the title “Princess of Wales” since Princess Diana, William’s mother.

Despite the fact that Kate already possesses Diana’s engagement ring, the diamond-encrusted tiara she wore to her 1981 wedding will apparently be passed down to Charlotte.

According to Hello! Magazine, the Spencer tiara was displayed at a London exhibition earlier this year alongside lettering stating that Diana’s eldest granddaughter would one day wear the diadem.

“John Spencer, the eighth Earl Spencer, inherited the tiara in the mid-1970s. It was later worn by all three of his daughters at their respective weddings: Lady Jane in 1978, Lady Sarah in 1980, and Lady Diana in 1981 “the text said, according to the outlet. “Celia McCorquodale, niece of the 10th Earl Spencer Charles, wore the tiara most recently at her wedding in the spring of 2018. Princess Charlotte is now slated to receive the Spencer Tiara.”

On April 11, 1983, Princess Diana wore her bridal tiara at a state dinner in Brisbane, Australia.

The Prince and Princess of Wales’ representatives did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.

According to Hello!, the tiara currently belongs to the Spencer family. Vogue said in June that luxury jeweler Garrard built the miniature crown in 1930 from old Spencer jewels and diamonds. The floral centerpiece was a wedding gift to Lady Cynthia Hamilton from Diana’s grandfather.

Sam McKnight, a celebrity hairdresser who worked with Diana, told the publication that the late princess favored the Spencer tiara because it was lightweight and did not give her headaches.
