New Continental SportContact 7 wins a pair of international design awards and numerous independent tyre tests

Soon after its release in Europe, Continental’s new SportContactTM 7 began building on the success of its predecessor, winning a pair of international design awards and numerous independent tyre tests.

In a test conducted by the specialized German journal sportauto, Continental’s SportContact 7 took top place and was given the designation “Outstanding.”

The test vehicle, a Hyundai i30N with 235/35 ZR 19 size tires, managed to outperform three competitors from the ultra-high performance (UUHP) sector of European and Asian manufacturers.

The test was published in sportauto issue 4/22, and this magazine’s inaugural “Outstanding” tyre test award was given.

The testers claimed that the SportContact 7 “ushers in a new age,” especially in wet braking, and that the competition’ handling characteristics are “simply swept away” in light of its “excellent braking safety.”

Outstanding deceleration at typical road and tire temperatures, for both dry and wet conditions, was the editorial team’s conclusion.

The experts examined semi-slick tires intended for use on race tracks in addition to UHP and UUHP tires.

“Here, Continental proves that sportiness and sustainability are still compatible thanks to low fuel consumption,” they write in their final assessment of all-purpose and semi-slick tires.

This results in the test’s objective and rational win; subjectively, it gives the driver the certainty that they will always be safe on the road in slick circumstances without falling behind other drivers in dry.

In the AutoBild test, “Exemplary”

In their summer tire test titled “Elitäres Kräftemessen,” the experts at the German auto magazine AutoBild graded Continental’s new SportContact 7 as “exemplary” (Elite Showdown, issue dated March 31, 2022).

Among the 10 sport tyres tested from European, Asian, and American manufacturers, the newest design from Continental received the top grade. A BMW 5-Series was used for testing the 245/40 R 19 tires.

The SportContact 7 was complimented by the testers for its “great handling qualities on dry roads, good aquaplaning reserves, quick braking distances, and safe handling on wet roads,” according to their report.

On dry roads, the high-tech sports tire was “in its element.” On the wet track, it was in a “neck-and-neck race” with two rivals and, like them, received a “very good” final score.

The experts did issue a warning regarding a Chinese product that, when compared to the best test tyres, required a longer braking distance on the wet track of about 20 meters.

As a result, the Chinese product was given the final rating of “not recommended” because of its “dangerously long braking distances and lack of grip on wet roads.”

Top in test of tires reviews

The SportContact 7 won the 2022 Ultra High-Performance test conducted by Tyre Reviews (www.tyrereviews.com) using a Toyota Supra in the UUHP (ultra-high performance tyre sector) sizes: 255/35 R19 (front) and 275/35 R19 (rear).

“The recently released Continental SportContact 7 sets a new benchmark in the wet, finishing both tests with an outstanding gap to the next best tyre,” remarked Jonathan Benson of Tyre Reviews.

The new Continental SportContact 7 is a worthy test winner and sets a new benchmark for the UUHP sector with its advantage in the wet conditions.

the best tire in UK tests

The SportContact 7 won the ultra-high performance category of evo magazine, the Supersports (UUHP) category of WhatTyre, and the WhatTyre Tyre of the Year 2022 award.

The Ford Mustang GT used in the evo test has ultra-high performance tires with a size of 265/35ZR20.

After the Continental SportContact 7 defeated two rivals to win the category, evo made a comment and offered the following piece of advice: “Fit a set and instantly increase your car’s performance.”

The SportContact 7 was referred to as “the freshest arrival in the Supersports tyre sector, that’s made many friends in the short period since its launch” by WhatTyre, on the other hand. It was named WhatTyre’s overall Tyre of the Year 2022 after winning the Supersports (UUHP) category.

In the Auto Express 2022 Ultra-Ultra-High Performance tyre test, the SportContact 7 won as well. This was the first time the magazine conducted this test. The test was run on a VW Golf GTI equipped with 235/35ZR19 ultra-high performance tires.

“Cars are connected to the road by tyres and only tyres, and as such, are so very crucial,” stated Steve Fowler, Editor in Chief of Auto Express. The bar has been raised in this industry by Continental.

The test drivers were able to attain rapid lap times and low stopping distances thanks to the tyres’ extraordinary sharpness.

Honours for international design

The attention is frequently put on the rims when it comes to aesthetics in the tire industry. Continental’s SportContact 7 nevertheless shows that tyres may also perform superbly in terms of form, function, and design.

The Red Dot Award: Product Design and the iF DESIGN AWARD are two of the most important international design accolades that the new Continental sports tire has received.

The 48 international members of the 2022 Red Dot Jury carefully, personally, and thoroughly evaluated each of the goods submitted from 60 countries for the Red Dot Award: Product Design in the “search for good design and innovation.”

Only goods that won over the judges with their exceptional design quality—such as the Continental SportContact 7—were given prizes.

One of the winners of the prestigious design label’s iF DESIGN AWARD this year was the sporty ultra-high-performance tire.

It won in the “Product” discipline in the “Automobile/Vehicle” category.

The oldest independent design organization in the world, iF International Forum Design GmbH, presents the iF DESIGN AWARD once a year.

The 132-member independent, international jury of specialists was particularly taken by the SportContact 7 tire’s creative shape and function.

Additionally, there were many applications; judges had to choose from almost 11,000 submissions from 57 different nations in order to bestow the coveted seal of approval.
