New Anambra NUJ Exco Visits NAU Awka VC Esimone

The newly elected Executive of the Anambra state Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, led by its Chairman, Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu has continued its familiarization tour with a visit on the Vice Chancellor of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Professor Charles Esimone, to seek for more cordial relationship between the union and the institution.

 

The Anambra NUJ officials were warmly received by the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Vice Chancellor, Professor Esimone in his office in Awka.

Correspondent Emmanuel Okonkwo reports that while addressing the delegation, Professor Esimone expressed delight over the triumph of Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu at the Anambra NUJ election held on the 28th of January, 2022, and commended members of the union for believing in Dr Odogwu and his executive members, and assured to continue to give the union all necessary support.

 

Professor Esimone while pointing out that his administration would not have achieved record successes without the help of journalists in the state, solicited for the continuous support of the men of pen profession, as he acknowledged the fact that no organization survives without the assistance of the media.

 

Earlier, the  Anambra NUJ Chairman, Dr Odogwu who appreciated the Unizik VC for all his support to him during the Anambra NUJ election, reemphasized on the commitment of his administration to redefine journalism profession, and promised that the union will assist in no small measure to ensure that the institution is given its rightful place on the global academic map.

In a vote of thanks, the Vice Chairman of the Anambra NUJ, Comrade Ngozi Obileri of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, thanked Professor Esimone for the warm reception accorded them and good relationship that has continued to exist between the institution and the media since he assumed office, promising that the union will continue to play its part to ensure that the relationship is maintained.

 

Members of the union present during the event include the Secretary, Comrade Aloysius Ofordile, Treasurer, Comrade Ogemdi Ozoemenam, John Ndu, Financial Secretary, Okechukwu Onuegbu, Assistant Secretary, and Ifeyinwa Iloanya Auditor of the union.
