Nelisiwe, the ‘Durban Gen’ actor, is acting as if she has a stroke

Nelisiwe Sibiya has shared what she did to nail her character’s stroke sequences on e.yv’s Durban Gen.

The 30-year-old actress revealed on Instagram that she has never been challenged as much as she has while portraying Mbali Mthethwa on Durban Gen. She stated that she felt as if she had a stroke in reality.

The “mama kaBafana” singer remarked that she felt immense pressure while filming the stroke sequences, stating, “The pressure I felt while filming these Stroke scenes was so severe that I believed I truly had it. Remember Being an actor is psychologically, emotionally, and physically taxing. It was a great disgrace, I won’t lie, and it was really painful to remain in one position from the face, mouth, arm, and leg.”

She is however glad for the opportunity to play such a role and for the chance to develop her skills.

“(backdrop, Dr. Mbali continues to deny ukusebenzela abantu abadala and to practice as a sangoma despite esethwasile. Abantu abadala “ancestors” who gave her this gift want her to have indumba, practice ubungoma, and aid people in a traditional manner; therefore, they caused her to have a stroke so she would accept the gift,” she added.

Nelisiwe continued, “But hey we did it, and I am grateful to my best team on @durbangen etv@mavuso101@sabelo, who had a significant hand in directing these. Ngyabonga to the entire team and coworkers. Kancane kancane siyafunda signifies excellence. “I am grateful for my life’s journey,” she remarked.

When the character of Mbali was introduced to audiences in October 2020, following the cancellation of Isipho: The Gift, many questioned Nelisiwe’s acting, given her reputation as a singer.

After three seasons, audiences believe she has demonstrated significant development and is continuing to advance in her acting profession. She has also won multiple prizes for her acting, which she considers to be excellent validation.
