Musawenkosi ‘Musa’ Khawula alleges he acted in’self-defence’

This month, the controversial celebrity blogger Musawenkosi “Musa” Khawula will return to court following his detention in connection with the fatal wounding of a Vredenburg man.

Khawula is accused of stabbing Wandile Khambule in March of this year following a dispute outside the deceased’s residence.

Khawula allegedly stated in a statement to the National Prosecuting Authority that he was in a relationship with Khambule at the time of the occurrence.

Sweetness Jaftha, the girlfriend of Khambule, stated in an interview with the “Sunday World” earlier this week that Khawula arrived to her home in Vredenburg about 5 p.m. on March 4 and requested to talk to the deceased.

Jaftha told “Sunday World” that Khambule refused to speak to him and stated that he was not interested in what he had to say because he was not romantically interested in him. Because there were other people in the home, I asked them to speak outside.

“When I went outside to see what was happening, I saw Khawula chasing Khambule with a large knife and stabbing him. Khambule fell in front of my brother’s bakkie. I then requested that one of my buddies attend and attempt to stop what was occurring. He stabbed him in the back and the chest.”

Jaftha asserted that her companion battled Khawula for the knife.

Khawula responded to the report with a live audio stream on Twitter dubbed “Izani Sizohleba” (come, let’s gossip) in response to Jaftha’s public declaration.

He said: “I remember following him, believing we were walking to the car. However, we did not reach the vehicle. I ducked as he turned, snatched up a bottle, and tossed it at me.

He said that the dead attacked him with a beer bottle and in defence, Khuwalo grabbed a nearby knife and stabbed the deceased in the groin.

“We continued to fight until a man intervened and broke up the brawl. I left immediately because I believed he would literally kill me if he returned.

Eric Ntabazalila, regional spokesperson for the National Prosecution Authority, informed IOL Entertainment that Musawenkosi Khawula will return to court on September 19, 2022.

“The Vredenburg Magistrate’s Court has charged him with murder for fatally stabbing Muzikayifani Ntshanyintshavi with a knife. At this time, the motive for the murder is unknown.

According to the defendant’s warning statement, they were in a relationship. The accused is out on bail (don’t know the amount). The matter has been transferred to the regional court and will be rescheduled for defense consultation on September 19, 2022.”

Captain FC van Wyk, a police spokesperson, verified the incident: “A murder inquiry has been opened.” According to sources, Vredenburg police reacted to a stabbing incident on Goud Street in Ongegund, Vredenburg, at 19:36 on March 4.

“Upon arrival, they discovered a man laying on the ground with a stab wound to the stomach. He wore nothing but black pants and black takkies.

“On March 6, a 29-year-old suspect was arrested for the murder of a 35-year-old woman named Wandile Khambule. His first court appearance was on March 7, and his last remand date was on June 6; the case is currently pending.”
