Move over ‘Frozen’! Disney’s ‘Encanto’ hit song tops Billboard 100

Encanto, a Disney musical fantasy film, had its international premiere in November 2021.
The film, directed by Byron Howard and Jared Bush, won the Golden Globe for Best Animated Film in January, and now it has received another another prize!
We Don’t Talk About Bruno, an original song from Encanto, has reached #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 charts.
This is the second Disney song to achieve this behind Aladdin’s A Whole New World in 1993.

ABOUT ‘ENCANTO’

Encanto follows the story of the Madrigal family who live in the mountains of Colombia in a house in Encanto. The magic of the city has blessed every child in the Madrigal family except for little Mirabel.
When she realises that the magic surrounding Encanto might be in danger, she might be the Madrigal family’s only hope to stop it.
The film directed by Byron Howard and Jared Bush stars Stephanie Beatriz, Jessica Darrow, Orange is the New Black actress Diane Guerrero and Colombian singer Maluma.
According to Business Insider, Encanto earned  $228 million (R3.4 billion) globally at the box office.

‘WE DON’T TALK ABOUT BRUNO’ HITS #1 ON BILLBOARD 

We Don’t Talk About Bruno, written by American actor and playwright Lin-Manuel Miranda, is the fourth song on the Encanto soundtrack. The song is performed by six members of the cast including Carolina Gaitán, Mauro Castillo, Rhenzy Feliz and Diane Guerrerro.
The track has achieved the number one spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 charts, marking Lin-Manuel Miranda’s first-ever Billboard #1.
It is also the second Disney song to achieve the #1 spot after A Whole New World from Aladdin in 1993.
