Minister Sisulu honors members of the SA Tourism Board for their service

The Minister of Tourism, Lindiwe Sisulu, acknowledged the three members of the SA Tourism Board who resigned from the department yesterday, on Friday, February 3.

Aubrey Mhlongo, chairman of the South African Tourism Board, praised the work of Enver Duminy, Ravi Nadasen, and Rosemary Anderson, who resigned from the board effective immediately.

“On behalf of the board, we would like to thank Enver Duminy, Ravi Nadasen, and Rosemary Anderson for their invaluable service to the South African Tourism Board, and we wish them the best in their future endeavors.”

“We would like to thank these board members for their service and oversight of the organization during their tenure,” he continued.

Duminy and Nadasen were serving their third terms on the South African Tourism Board when Mhlongo recognized them.

The three depart as SA Tourism’s R1 billion sponsorship arrangement with Tottenham Hotspur has come under intense criticism.

The agreement has been heavily criticized and rejected by political parties and civil groups. As the nation battles to keep the lights on, with unemployment and crime at record highs, the majority of citizens do not see the bargain as rational. Despite Chief Acting Executive Officer of South African Tourism Themba Khumalo’s defense of the arrangement, South Africans continue to be displeased with it.

MINISTER SISULU WILL REPLACE THE MEMBERS The Ahmed Kathrada Foundation has urged civil society to reject the R1 billion Tottenham Hotspur sponsorship contract.

The foundation stated, “We are calling on all sectors of society to reject the government’s R1 billion sponsorship of the Tottenham Hotspurs football club.”

Additionally, the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation is requesting an R1 billion sponsor refusal.

In addition, Minister Sisulu said that the process of appointing qualified replacements is currently ongoing.
