The legal dispute between Michael Irvin and Marriott is getting more heated. During Super Bowl 2023 week in February, Irvin was removed from his broadcasting duties on NFL Network after being accused of harassing a female employee at the Renaissance Phoenix Hotel & Spa.

Irvin filed a lawsuit against Marriott for $100 million and compared the situation to a modern-day lynching during a press conference. However, Marriott filed a motion on Friday stating that Irvin’s characterization of the incident was inaccurate and accused him of making unwanted sexual advances.

Marriott claimed that Irvin was visibly intoxicated when he approached the accuser, shook her hand, and made comments about her attractiveness and whether she was a football fan.

The filing also claimed that Irvin touched the victim’s arm without her consent and made a sexually explicit remark. However, Irvin’s attorney, Levi McCathern, denied the allegations, calling them “nonsense” and demanding that Marriott apologize to Irvin.

In an additional development, federal judge Amos Mazzant ruled that Marriott “blatantly” disobeyed his order to provide surveillance footage of the alleged incident to Irvin.

Marriott had been fighting the ruling, but the un-redacted video has since been sent to Irvin. However, Irvin has not made the video available to the public.

During a press conference, Irvin expressed his frustration with the situation, likening it to a time when a white woman would accuse a black man of wrongdoing, and a group of men would take the law into their own hands and hang him from a tree. While the case continues to escalate, it remains to be seen how it will be resolved.
