Man killed by lightning while posing for engagement photographs with his fiancée in China

A groom was struck by lightning while posing for engagement photographs with his fiancée at a renowned Chinese tourist destination.

Wednesday, August 24th, a horrifying tragedy happened on China’s Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in the Yunnan region.

The man, identified by Chinese media as Ruan, died instantaneously after being struck by lightning as photographers were photographing him and his companion at Spruce Meadow.

Before the lightning strike, the Chinese government issued a yellow weather alert, the third-highest level under the country’s meteorological system.

Despite the warning, the couple chose to proceed with the scheduled photograph.

The emergency services raced to the site and the man could be seen being carried in pouring rain.

The Chinese government was researching whether or not air pollution had an effect on the frequency with which individuals were hit in recent years.

A 2017 analysis determined such hits kill or injure about 4,000 people annually in China.

In addition, the horrific news came six days after a British woman was hit by lightning in Croatia.

MailOnline was the first to report that a 48-year-old lady was in serious condition, with her doctor adding that her life was “in danger.”
