Locally and internationally, Makhadzi’s musical career has risen rapidly over the past few years.
She recently traveled to Botswana, where over 26,000 people attended her “One-Woman Show,” and only a few weeks ago, she was busy with her five-stop tour of Canada and Europe.
She also performed at the 28th South African Music Awards over the weekend, although her performance was not as successful.
The “MaGear” hitmaker took to Twitter to discuss the technical troubles she encountered at South Africa’s most prestigious music awards in a now-deleted remark that was quickly captured by her followers.
She wrote, “I practised my choreography with a cellphone on stage.” I requested a rehearsal with the cameramen so they could read my actions, but no one listened. I requested smokes and fireworks, but they never delivered. (sic)”
Despite the setbacks, she believed she had a flawless performance.
“However, I am still a queen,” she continued.
In another post, she stated, “The medal I received was a gift from my ancestors, and I am certain that the individual who changed my name will be dismissed tomorrow.
“I no longer desire summer awards; instead, I want to release my music on YouTube so that my followers can buy data and support me without prejudice.”

A small number of her supporters and followers believed that the “challenges” she faced were planned.
