Make use of every drop

The Department of Water and Sanitation has provided water conservation suggestions for residents.
The agency emphasized that South Africa is a water-scarce nation and that every effort must be made to preserve this valuable resource.
Tips
Locate and rectify leaks: Leaks can waste a great deal of water, especially if they go undiscovered or are buried for an extended period of time.
Do not use a running tap when brushing your teeth or shaving. Use a tumbler or run the water just when necessary.
Take a daily five-minute shower rather than a bath. This will conserve up to 400 liters of water every week compared to showering in a bathtub.
Never leave running taps unattended.
When washing dishes, block the sink and avoid washing or rinsing beneath a running tap.
Kettles should not be filled to the brim with water, but rather with just enough to meet one’s needs. This will also lower your electricity bill.
Do not overfill containers such as cooking pots, as this could increase the amount of energy required to heat the water.
A toilet with a leak might waste up to 100,000 liters of water each year.
Flush the toilet only when necessary. Instead of the toilet, dispose of tissues, insects, and other garbage in the trash.
