‘MacG was right’: Tweeps on Minnie Dlamini cheating scandal

Twitter users have dug into the archives to reflect on comments podcaster MacG made about it-girls following claims Minnie Dlamini cheated during her marriage.

The TV personality is alleged to have cheated on her estranged husband Quinton Jones with a well-known and wealthy businessman.

Upon the revelation that the man in question is Edwin Sodi, tweeps went back to one of MacG’s Podcast and Chill episodes on YouTube in which he discusses the “risks” of marrying it-girls.

WHAT IS AN IT-GIRL?

According to Dictionary.com, an it-girl is “a young woman with sex appeal and a magnetic personality.” Meanwhile, Urban Dictionary describes her as “the girl that EVERYONE wants to be. She has everything that you want so you tend to envy her.” Basically, she is influential, beautiful and famous.

In South Africa, women like Minnie Dlamini, Bonang, Pearl Thusi and Boity are considered it-girls. Others include Mihlali Ndamase, Faith Nketsi, Buhle Samuels- the women that most men crush on.

‘YOU DON’T WIFE AN IT-GIRL’: MACG

During an episode of his much-loved YouTube show Podcast and Chill, Macg told his co-host Sol Phenduka and Ghost Lady that it-girls are not wife material.

The former YFM radio host claimed that these kinds of women are only after one thing “the bag”. He further said that it is risky to marry such women because they can leave you for a richer man. During his claims, MacG made an example with Minnie Dlamini and Boity.

“Nobody in their right mind will marry an it-girl,” MacG said.

When Sol asked him why, he said: “They will do whatever it takes to secure the bag… in life, as a ninja [man] you might have money, but there’s always someone with a bigger bag… which means your it-girl is always up for sale.

“You can’t wife an it-girl, you hit and run. That’s it!” He continued.

EDWIN SODI ALLEGATIONS

Businessman Edwin Sodi is not new to allegations of homewrecking. The controversial entrepreneur who was granted R150 000 in March 2022 on attempted murder charges, was also said to be the man behind rapper Proverb’s divorce.

According to reports, Proverb’s ex-wife, Onalerona, met businessman Edwin Sodi at a local car wash in 2013. The pair instantly hit it off and apparently entered into a relationship despite being married to the Metro FM presenter at the time.

Sodi was allegedly also the reason businessman Sbu’s relationship with his ex-fiancée, Disebo Makatsa, failed as she cheated with him as well.
