For nearly five years, Leqela was the producer of YFM’s “The Night Cap with Lula Odiba.”

The station paid tribute to Leqela last week.

Haseena Cassim, the managing director of YFM, stated, “On behalf of everyone at Y, we express our deepest condolences to Lumko’s family and friends, as well as to the YFM staff and our listeners.

“Lumko aimed to positively influence the media sector, and I believe they departed the space in a better state than when they arrived.

Cassim added, “They continued to make a difference in the media sector, at the Y, and in the LGBTQIA+ community through their creativity, critical thinking, professional competence, and keen understanding of societal issues.”
