Lions hit hard as star player crosses Jukskei to Bulls

Lions centre Wandisile Simelane is poised to become the latest Bulls signing having considered all his available options.

The 24-year-old is reported by SA Rugby magazine to be announced as the next – in a ever-growing list – of Bulls signings, imminently.

This comes hot on the heels of Friday’s confirmation – as reported by The South African website – that Sbu Nkosi will be joining from the Sharks.

Simelane’s skills will be a welcome addition to a Bulls backline which currently includes fellow midfielders Lionel Mapoe, Cornal Hendricks and Stedman Gans.

Another heavy blow for the Lions

Simelane, who previously represented the SA Under-20 side, was linked with a lucrative move to French Top 14 giants Toulon earlier this year.

However, his agent, Dane Galley, confirmed at the time that Simelane had “several options on the table”.

His departure will be yet another blow for the Lions who have already lost skipper and centre Burger Odendaal to English Premiership side Wasps next season.

The Lions are winless – and bottom – of the Currie Cup log and are the only one of the four South African participants in the United Rugby Championship (URC) not to have made the playoffs.
