KykNET’s latest drama ‘Diepe Waters’ has intrigue, mysteries, and forbidden love

After the success of “Arendsvlei,” “Afgrond,” and “Project Dina,” Penguin Films’ most recent offering, “Diepe Waters,” is another feather in their cap.

Set against the background of Gys Swarts’s Swartmarlyne swimming club, the club is a family enterprise in which Rossouw and Jacques Swarts are engaged.

There is no place for peace and tranquility in the Swarts home since a family business here is a breeding ground for conflict.

The telenovela, which premieres in October on kykNET, is filled with intrigue, secrets, forbidden love, and most all, a narrative with heart and depth.

Waldimar Pelser, director of the kykNET channels, said, “‘Diepe Waters’ was developed by a world-class team that understands the kykNET audience.

Monday through Thursday evenings at 6:00 p.m., these personalities will inhabit the homes of our viewers, with whom we hope they fall in love.

“Our calling is to produce fascinating, genuine tales that viewers can use to start off their evening watching enjoyment. We believe ‘Diepe Waters’ will match the great expectations of our audience.”

Karla and Johan, Gys’s grandkids, also swim for Swartmarlyne’s swimming team, adding to the stress.

Karla is a young adolescent who suffers everyday with the burden of being a champion. Sanet, Karla’s mother, thinks she can obtain an international scholarship and never accepts anything short than perfection from her daughter.

Johan, on the other hand, yearns for his grandfather’s favor, but he is just not as talented as Karla.

Rossouw and Sanet’s lives are interrupted when an unexpected guest enters their home. Jacques, who still resides on Gys’s property, is the smolderingly attractive instructor for whom all the swimming mothers and aqua aerobics grandmothers vie.

All of them are enamored with his lovely heart and kind nature.

Several families in “Diepe Waters” go to extraordinary lengths to keep their heads above water.

The owner of the beauty shop Skinvestment, Zelda Joubert, cannot stand Gys. This century-old disdain of Gys gives Zelda a spring in her stride as she realizes she should rather keep her foes near.

Meghan, the apple of Zelda’s eye, is not even her own blood, making it very difficult for Pam, her daughter, to meet Zelda’s high expectations.

Here, not just in Lettie’s freshly baked goodies, but also on her shoulder, is where the characters find consolation for their spirits.

Henry becomes the club’s new caretaker, and his adopted son, Tshepo, poses a significant danger to Johan’s image.

Karla meets Nina, a new member of the swimming club, and the two reveal their darkest secrets.

Roberta Durrant, the creative producer of “Diepe Waters,” said, “This program is odd and unconventional, nevertheless a telenovela about love, secrets, intrigue, and plots for vengeance.

We have a fantastic cast and an intriguing scenario, and we hope that the audience will connect with it.
