Kaizer Chiefs are set to return to DStv Premiership action on Saturday, after the FIFA window for international football.
The team will host Stellenbosch FC at FNB stadium in a 5pm kick-off, aiming to continue their winning streak before the league’s interruption.
Namibia national team coach Collin Benjamin stopped by Naturena for a meeting with Kaizer Chefs Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Junior, and Chiefs’ Head of Youth and Technical, Molefi Ntseki.
This visit came after Benjamin’s team moved to the top of Group C with a memorable 2-1 victory over Cameroon in a 2023 CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at Dobsonville Stadium.
Motaung Junior warmly welcomed Benjamin, applauding his team’s win over the Indomitable Lions.
On Benjamin’s visit to the village, he added, “It was a pleasure for us to welcome Collin and we had a really interesting discussion.
It is important for us to collaborate with different teams from around the continent.”
Benjamin was impressed with the facilities at the Chiefs village, stating, “I am so impressed with the facilities and what has been built here in Naturena.
It is inspiring to see. Hopefully, the targets that we want to reach with Kaizer Chiefs in terms of co-operation and exchange will materialise soon”.
Chiefs have had several Namibian players, including Herman Blaschke, Pius Eigowab, Robert Nauseb, Mohamed Auseb, and Virgil Vries, play for the team.
Benjamin spoke about the love for Chiefs in Namibia, saying, “I would not be lying if I said that half of Namibia are Kaizer Chiefs fans.
Me, myself, watching Doctor Khumalo, Thabo Mooki’s and all our countrymen playing here, I had to support Chiefs”.
It is always positive to see teams collaborating with one another, and it seems that both Kaizer Chiefs and the Namibia national team have a lot to gain from this partnership.
