Kaizer Chiefs transfer news: McCarthy calls for cool heads around Sithebe

Amazulu coach Benni McCarthy is resigned to losing Siyethemba Sithebe, although he doesn’t share the view of club chairman Sandile Zungu.
Zungu doesn’t want to see Sithebe in an Amazulu jersey again, meanwhile, McCarthy feels they need to give the player the right send-off.

Benni McCarthy calls for cool heads over Kaizer Chiefs target

McCarthy called for cool heads around the issue, which unfolded while he was away in Scotland. Kaizer Chiefs upset Zungu with their handling of the matter, though that does not guarantee an exile.
The coach has held talks with the top brass, as a result it seems Sithebe will play some part in the remainder of the Amazulu season.

“I was away in Scotland with my family when all this happened and when I came back, I read in the newspapers that it was said that [Siyethemba] Sithebe would never put on an AmaZulu shirt again, so you can understand from a club point of view,” McCarthy said.
“I did have conversations with the president and with the board about us having to be on the same page.
“In these circumstances we have to sometimes put emotions aside. However I am sure as a club we will find a way forward and a solution that works for the cub and for the player, we cant just do it on an emotional ride.”

Amazulu haven’t had the best season although there have been signs of improvement.

Play it by ear

McCarthy said that it was too soon to say exactly what would happen around Sithebe. He warned that however this saga unfolds, Amazulu should do right by a player who served them well.

McCarthy said: “I can’t say I won’t be playing the player because he is gonna be someone else’s player because that is not how life is supposed to be football is what it is. We have to try and make difficult decisions.
“We want to send him off in a proper way because he has been an important player for AmaZulu for so many years, so we don’t want to part ways on a sour note, we want to give him our blessing when he leaves,” he added.
KickOff

Amazulu face Orlando Pirates in the Nedbank Cup this weekend. It is unclear though if Sithebe will play.
Sithebe is a key member of McCarthy’s squad and his departure will be a blow.
Kaizer Chiefs meanwhile were unable to strengthen their squad in January. Amakhosi nailed down Sithebe, only on a pre-contract though meaning he will join in June.
