After being diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, Justin Bieber’s wife Hailey Bieber said that he is ‘doing better every single day.’
The Baby singer raised eyebrows earlier this month when he postponed a number of tour dates before disclosing his facial paralysis in a distressing video.
The model, 25, gave an update on how the 28-year-old is doing, calling his health difficulties a “really terrifying and strange circumstance.”
‘He’s doing fantastic. He is improving on a daily basis. ‘He’s doing a lot better,’ she stated during a Good Morning America appearance.
‘Obviously, it was just a very scary and random situation to happen, but he is going to be totally okay and I am just grateful that he is fine.
‘The support has been really amazing just from fans, friends, family. Every single person has sent well wishes, advice, recommendations. It’s actually been really amazing.’
After being forced to cancel his scheduled gigs due to illness, Justin announced his ailment last week, and fans rushed to show their support.
‘As you can probably see with my face, I have this syndrome called Ramsay Hunt syndrome and it is from this virus that attacks the nerves in my ear and my facial nerves and has caused my face to have paralysis,’ the Boyfriend musician said in an Instagram video.
‘Obviously my body is telling me I’ve got to slow down.
‘So for those who are frustrated by my cancellations of the next shows, I’m just physically obviously not capable of doing them. This is pretty serious, as you can see, I wish this wasn’t the case.
‘But obviously my body is telling me I’ve got to slow down and I hope you guys understand.’
In the video, Justin was visibly suffering from paralysis and was unable to blink, flare his nostril and smile on the right side of his face.
Ramsay Hunt syndrome is a complication of the disease known as shingles. It is the name given to describe the symptoms of a shingles infection affecting the facial nerve.
Symptoms can include blisters in the ears and on the roof of the mouth, as well as facial weakness – It can be treated with steroids, antiviral medication and facial rehabilitation.
Justin’s announcement comes shortly after Hailey was also rushed to hospital herself, with ‘stroke-like symptoms’.
‘I feel a lot better after that situation. I feel good. I had a procedure done to close this hole in my heart and I am just giving my body time to heal and recover,’ the Rhode Beauty founder added in the GMA chat.
‘It was a little hard for me to recover from the procedure, just giving myself the time to be able to work out again and feel normal, if that makes sense.
‘But I am doing well now and I am not having to be on any medication any more, so I feel good.’
The couple famously tied the knot in a secret ceremony in 2018, shortly after their reunion.
They confirmed their marriage soon after, before walking down the aisle for a second time the following year.
‘I think the silver lining of all of it is that it brings us closer because you are going through this together, you are being there for each other, you are supporting each other and there is just something that really bonds you through these times.
‘So, that is the silver lining in these crazy times.’
