In his potential pursuit of the Washington Commanders, Jeff Bezos has taken a tangible step forward by hiring investment firm Allen & Company to assess the possibility of a bid for the team.

The boutique firm had previously overseen the sale of both the Denver Broncos and the Carolina Panthers in 2018, which amounted to $4.65 billion and $2.275 billion, respectively.

Bezos, whose net worth is estimated at $119 billion, has not yet submitted a bid, but reports suggest that he may sell The Washington Post to clear the path for the acquisition.

The current owner of the team, Dan Snyder, is said to be upset with The Washington Post’s coverage of the team’s toxic workplace environment, and Bezos selling the paper would demonstrate goodwill towards Snyder.

Other potential suitors include Josh Harris, who has already visited the team’s facility.
