Jamilu Collins has shared his experience of recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury, likening his treatment to receiving “a new knee.”

The defender signed with Cardiff City from Paderborn last summer but has been sidelined for the past nine months since his injury during a 0-0 draw with West Bromwich Albion in August.

Despite making progress in his recovery over the last few months, it is unlikely that Collins will play any further part in the current season.

This has been a difficult period for the 28-year-old who had never previously suffered an injury in his career.

Speaking on his struggles for the first time, Collins expressed his gratitude for the level of support shown by the Super Eagles, of which he is a member, during this time.

Collins has won 25 caps for Nigeria, and was part of the squad that finished second at the Africa Cup of Nations in 2019.
