Authorities say a grandma from South Carolina was detained over the weekend for allegedly aiding her grandson in covering up a murder.

Edna Faye Daniels, 78, of Georgetown, was arrested on January 27 based on evidence that she suppressed evidence linked to a homicide occurred in her house, according to a statement from the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office.

She is being imprisoned at the Georgetown County Detention Center on allegations of obstruction of justice and complicity in a murder. Her bond has not yet been set.

Ryan O’Neil Woodruff, the grandson of Daniels, was arrested on January 25 for the shooting death of TyQuez Demetrius Walker, 19, at Daniels’ home on 135 Meadow Street, according to WPDE.

Woodruff, 30, was free on bond for a double murder in 2021, according to the news source.

After he was captured at the scene, Daniels allegedly provided several false statements to detectives.

Sheriff Carter Weaver stated in a statement that there are penalties for lying to police during a criminal investigation.
