Girlfriend publishes accident video to ‘save others from making similar mistake’

The father-of-heartbroken two’s girlfriend has shared video of the tragic moment a drug-impaired driver lost control of his vehicle and murdered him in an effort “to deter others making the same mistake.”

Richie Jordan, 33, was a passenger in the Mercedes that Mark Thompson, a coworker, was driving.

Non-league footballer Mr Jordan was a back seat passenger in the car, which crashed near Houghton-le-Spring in August 2019

In the collision on August 4, 2019, the automobile reached speeds of more than 120 mph before flipping and overturning on the A19 near Sunderland.

On August 31, 2019, Thompson pleaded guilty to causing death by reckless driving and was later determined to be above the legal limit for both alcohol and drugs. He was sentenced to almost seven years in prison.

Carol King, Mr. Jordan’s partner, has now requested that the dashcam video of the crash be made public in the hopes that it may make other drivers reconsider operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

“I used to be the one who read about these horrible situations,” the 30-year-old remarked.

“Then my family experienced it.”

People tend to be unaware at the moment that when they are intoxicated or drugged, all restraints and common sense are lost.

The carelessness fully spirals as it disregards the safety of other road users, pedestrians, even your own passengers, and you.

Before Richie died away, I definitely wouldn’t confront someone who had used alcohol, but you see people pushing the limits all the time.

I’ll just have a few, it’s only down the road, and it’ll only take five minutes, so I’ll be OK.

“Now I wouldn’t hesitate to challenge someone I know who is above the limit,” said the subject.

Exactly that occurred the night Richie passed away.

Several choices were made without giving them much thought or challenging them.

It has ruined so many people’s lives. For what, I’ll ask in a moment: “Getting behind the wheel while intoxicated or high.”

Mr. Jordan, a non-league player, was a passenger in the rear seat when the automobile collided in August 2019 in Houghton-le-Spring.

A cerebral haemorrhage struck Lewis Atkinson, who had been in the driver’s seat.

Ms. King, from Sunderland, found out she was expecting Mr. Jordan’s second child only a few weeks after losing her boyfriend.

Ms. King will raise her two young daughters without their father.

Quinn, who is four, and Gray, who is two, are my current little girls and they haven’t yet grasped the severity of what’s occurred, she added.

Two young children were left to bear the weight of that night’s rippling effect before their lives had even started.

Thompson, of Seaton Crescent in Seaham, County Durham, entered a guilty plea to driving while intoxicated and causing death and severe harm.

The 42-year-old was imprisoned for six years and eight months and was prohibited from using public transportation for three years, beginning with his release.

Ms. King has now requested that Northumbria Police make the film public in order to promote a nationwide awareness campaign that will take place over the next two weeks.

Operation Dragoon team members from Northumbria Police will be conducting roadside enforcement and teaching motorists about the dangers of operating a vehicle while intoxicated or under the influence.

Campaigns like this are so crucial, Ms. King said, so we wanted to distribute the video immediately in the hopes that it may prevent others from making the same errors that were made that evening.

We’ve all been trying to understand Richie’s death throughout the years; there must have been a reason behind it. There must be something useful or instructive about it.

So, if you see someone who seems to be pondering getting behind the wheel while intoxicated, remember Richie.

Remember the narrative you’re reading right now and think about my daughters; it may become your own reality, just as it has been for me.

The Operation Dragoon team member Sergeant Glen Robson of Northumbria Police stated: “By choosing to go behind the wheel, you are gambling with people’s lives.”

As this terrible instance demonstrates, it may have unavoidable effects and instantly devastate several lives.

This heartbreaking and terrifying video captures Richie’s last moments.

“We’re publishing it for a purpose; we’re trying to assist people understand the message.”

We all have a duty to contribute to making our roads as safe as they can be for all users.

Anyone who breaks the law and gambles with the lives of others will face harsh punishment.

The campaign against drunk driving from the National Police Chiefs’ Council will continue through August 28.
