A murder case against Sibusiso Kula, a member of the ANC in the National Assembly, has been postponed until Friday so that a formal bail application may be made.
Due to the gravity of the situation, the state will oppose Kula’s bail application. It is believed that Kula murdered his wife in November 2022.
According to the police report, Kula’s wife was discovered slain in what appeared to be a botched robbery. She was stabbed in the back, but the weapon used to perpetrate the crime was not located at the site.
Henry Mamothame, regional spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority, stated that the accused reported the murder to the police and told them he was not at home when his wife was attacked.
Mamothame stated, “Following extensive police investigations that linked him to the alleged murder, he was arrested and charged with murder on Friday of last week.”
“Police investigations are still ongoing, and Kula will remain in police custody until his next court date at the Orkney magistrates court in North West.”
