He has a desire for speed.

Frankie Muniz is trading his actor’s headgear for a fire suit for racing.

The “Malcolm in the Middle” star confirmed on Wednesday that he will race the No. 30 Ford Mustang in the ARCA Menards Series.

On February 18, he will make his debut for Rette Jones Racing at Daytona International Speedway.

Muniz stated, “I’m joining Rette Jones Racing for the entire ARCA Menards Series schedule this year with excitement, optimism, and gratitude.”

It was crucial for me to collaborate with a team that agreed with my long-term aims and vision while providing every chance imaginable to grow emotionally and physically as a full-time race car driver. “Since I was a child, it has been my desire to compete in NASCAR.

Terry Jones and Mark Rette, both former racers in their own right, run Rette Jones Racing, with Rette being a former ARCA champion.

Jones stated in a press release that 2023 will be one of the most memorable seasons for Rette Jones Racing since the team’s debut in 2016. Without a question, we have faith in Frankie’s talent and dedication, and with Mark’s leadership, we expect him to swiftly adjust to the track and fight for the championship in his rookie year.

Rette continued, “Throughout the years, we’ve taken pride in working with new drivers who have quickly adapted to the diversity of the ARCA Menards Series, and we have no doubt that Frankie can do the same.”

The now-37-year-old former child actor, who also played in “Agent Cody Banks” and “Dancing with the Stars,” sent a Twitter message devoted to his kid.

“This is for my son and to show him that you can always pursue your dreams,” Muniz remarked. “Excited for this opportunity with Rette Jones Racing, Ford, and our partners to compete full-time for the ARCA National Series title in 2023.”

This is for my son and to demonstrate to him that it is possible to pursue one’s aspirations.

Muniz has previously participated in motor racing. In 2006, he took a vacation from the entertainment industry to compete in Formula BMW USA, garnering no points over the course of 14 races.

In 2021, he revealed on Steve-“Wild O’s Ride” podcast that he fractured his back in a season-ending crash in 2009, forcing him to endure many surgeries and drop his contract with an Indy Car for 2010.

Muniz played drums for the indie band Kingsfoil from 2012 to 2014 after his first stint in motor racing ended. He wed his wife Paige Price in February of 2020. Muis is the couple’s shared son.

The ARCA Menards Series is the lowest level of NASCAR-sanctioned national stock car racing series. Twenty races are planned for the 2023 season.
