FG Reconstitutes Ogidigben Gas Industrial Revolution Park Steering Committee

The Federal Government reconstituted the steering committee and technical working group for the Ogidigben Gas Industrial Revolution Park project on Tuesday, October 11, 2022.

The Honorable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, stated at the event held in Abuja that it was crucial for Nigeria to continue to build Investors’ confidence, attract foreign direct investment, and provide Ogidigben Gas Industrial Revolution Park with the level of executive leadership it requires, while ensuring that it remains a strategic national interest that can alleviate the Niger Delta crisis and impact post-conflict reconstruction.

He explained that the Park was intended to be Africa’s largest Gas City and will be home to Fertilizer, Petrochemical, Aluminum Smelters, Methanol Plants, and several Secondary Industries that will produce tens of thousands of jobs.

Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa – Co-Chairman, Managing Director, Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority, Adesoji Adesugba – Secretary, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Ambassador Gabriel Aduda – Member, and Director (Upstream), Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Engr. Kamoru Busari, FNSE – Member are members of the Steering Committee.

Other members include the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, Mele Kolo Kyari, the Acting Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Mohammed Bello-Koko, and the Executive General Manager of Alpha Grip Management Company (AGMC), Sheikh Mohamed Bayorh.

The Technical Working Group is composed of the following individuals: As the Project Manager, Dr. Justice Derefaka, Technical Assistant to HMSPR (Gas Policy and Business Implementation), is in charge. Barr. Gregory Fulus Zi, Director, Legal Services (MPR)/Legal – Technical Working Group, Alpha Grip Management Company (AGMC) Representative(s), Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) Technical and Legal Representatives, Nigerian Export Promotion Zones Authority Technical and Legal Representatives, Nigerian Ports Authority Technical and Legal Representatives, and Delta State Government Representatives.

In his address to the committee members, Sylva urged them to fulfill their Terms of Reference (ToR).

In his remarks, Director, Upstream, Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Engr. Busari Kamoru stated that the Ogidigben Industrial Gas Revolution Park project was initiated during the administration of the previous Minister of State, Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, with the formation of the project’s Steering Committee and Technical Working Group.

Busari stated that the project implementation agreement was in the process of being executed, but was halted owing to unforeseen circumstances. He was optimistic that the restored Steering Committee will see Project to fruition.
