Fatal automobile collision leaves two lives dead

A fatal automobile collision occurred on the R335 (Addo Road) near the Old Grahamstown Road crossing on Friday, July 15, 2022, at or around 07:00.

A truck (horse only) was struck by a white Quantum minibus with a trailer, which then flipped.

Two people, a 14-year-old boy and a 40-year-old woman, died there.

Twelve additional people, including the driver, were hurt in the collision. Two of the injured passengers were boys, 11 and 4 years old.

The 50-year-old male truck driver was unharmed in the incident.

According to the severity of their injuries, which ranged from serious to medium, all injured passengers were taken to various hospitals.

SAPS Swartkops has opened a case of culpable homicide and is currently conducting an investigation.
