ERC lays foundation stone of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak’s centre for women’s training in Tanzania

ZANZIBAR, 5th July, 2022 (WAM) — Upon the directives of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), the Mother of the Nation, and with the monitoring of the H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), the ERC established the H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak ‘Mother of the Nation’ centre for women’s training in Zanzibar, which will benefit 4,000 women.

The centre’s foundation stone was laid in the presence of Dr. Maitha bint Salem Al Shamsi, Minister of State, and Hamoud Abdullah Al Junaibi, Secretary-General of the ERC, along with many local officials.

In her speech at the event, Dr. Al Shamsi highlighted the significant efforts of Sheikha Fatima to empower women and the humanitarian giving of the UAE, led by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

At the start of her speech, she conveyed the greetings of Sheikha Fatima to the Tanzanian government and people, highlighting her happiness at laying the centre’s foundation stone.

She then pointed out that the centre’s establishment is taking place with the coordination of Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of Tanzania, adding that the project is part of Sheikha Fatima’s efforts to improve the conditions of women, in general, and underscores her keenness to enhance the cooperation between the UAE and Tanzania.

The project will also reinforce the efforts aimed at achieving development, prosperity and stability, as well as boost women’s capacities and support related social development efforts, Al Shamsi stressed.

Al Junaibi, in his turn, said the centre is an addition to the country’s humanitarian and developmental efforts to support Tanzania, most notably in the areas of health, education, social services and housing.

It also underscores the key role of the UAE and its leadership in meeting the developmental and humanitarian needs of the Tanzanian people, to achieve the UAE’s strategy to support activities that sustain giving, he added.
