In a statement released on Thursday by the DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunaya, the agency emphasized its determination to prevent subversive elements from carrying out their sinister plans.

The DSS highlighted that those opposing the inauguration intend to undermine the efforts of security agencies in ensuring peaceful ceremonies while instilling panic and fear among the public.

To counter these subversive elements, the DSS called on citizens, the media, and Civil Society Organizations to strictly adhere to security and civil protocols during the events.

The agency also warned against the dissemination of fake news, false alarms, biased reporting, and sensationalism, which could inflame division, tension, and violence before and after the inauguration.

Furthermore, individuals without legitimate reasons to be present at the inauguration venue in Abuja or other state venues have been cautioned to stay away from such locations.

The DSS reiterated that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman of the Presidential Transition Council had announced the activities for the presidential inauguration, including the swearing-in of the President and new Governors on May 29.
