Dr. (Mrs) Oluwayemisi Olorunshola has been announced as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of Wema Bank Plc, following the retirement of the former Chairman, Babatunde Kasali.
The appointment of Dr. Olorunshola was confirmed over the weekend, in accordance with the Bank’s Articles of Association.
Experience and Background:
Dr. Olorunshola joined Wema Bank as a Non-Executive Director in 2022 and previously served as the Chairman of the Board’s Nomination and Governance Committee.
Prior to her tenure at Wema Bank, she accumulated fifteen years of work experience at Unilever Nigeria Plc, specializing in supply chain, business re-engineering, and process management.
Dr. Olorunshola holds a B.Sc. degree in Education & Economics from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife.
Additionally, she obtained a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Liverpool, UK, and a Doctorate degree in Business Administration from Walden University, USA.
With over ten years of boardroom experience and business management, Dr. Olorunshola has honed her skills in various aspects of business management and corporate governance practices.
She has received training from esteemed institutions such as Four Acres Training Facility, Unilever UK, FITC, Leishton Academy, and H Pierson.
Her expertise spans the entire supply chain, including areas such as Business & Production Planning, Procurement, Distribution, Import & Export, and Logistics Services.

Dr. Olorunshola is an advocate for education and has published a widely read article on small business sustainability strategies in the Journal of Functional Education (JFEAcademia), Proquest.com, and Academia.edu.
Her publication has been referenced by numerous scholars.
