Una Driscoll, a receptionist from Staffordshire, expressed her frustration after spending £150 on a hotel for the Coronation Concert and discovering that she could not secure tickets for the event.
Driscoll stated that she was left “out of pocket” after modifying her non-refundable hotel reservation and believes that the ordeal has been “disgusting.”
She expressed her anger over not receiving tickets despite spending money to attend the event.
Ballot for Coronation Concert
Members of the public were invited to participate in a ballot for free tickets to the Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle on May 7.
On Tuesday, those who passed the ballot were informed through email that they were successful and had until April 27 at midday to claim their tickets.
Missed Opportunity
Ms. Driscoll explained that she received an email notification that the tickets had sold out after making changes to her hotel booking.
She was unable to claim the tickets even though she had spent time and money to attend the event, which will feature performances from Take That, Lionel Richie, and Katy Perry.
She expressed disappointment, frustration, and shock, saying, “It’s just absolute frustration, disappointment, and upset.
I’m just absolutely shocked.”
Ticketmaster’s Reputation
Tickets for the event were distributed through Ticketmaster, which has faced criticism for its handling of the ticket sales.
Ms. Driscoll described Ticketmaster as “a shambles” and stated that they have a poor reputation. She pointed out that this was not the first time Ticketmaster had issues with ticket sales.
Ticketmaster’s Response
According to a Ticketmaster spokesperson, unclaimed tickets were released on a first-come, first-served basis and sold out quickly.
The company stated that everyone who was successful in the two main ballot rounds was offered a pair of tickets, provided they claimed them within three weeks.
Unsuccessful applicants who had previously applied to the ballot were given the opportunity to claim any unclaimed tickets.
