Department of Justice’s Critical Incident Review Team examining the mass shooting at the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, conducts its first site visit

The Department of Justice’s Critical Incident Review Team investigating the mass shooting at the Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, carried out its first site visit the week of June 27 as part of the work that started some weeks ago and is still ongoing.

Subject matter experts assisted Justice Department employees in holding meetings and compiling essential data. This site visit and all subsequent site visits are only a portion of the thorough and exhaustive review that will be conducted.

In order to move forward with a comprehensive, fair, and complete accounting, the department is dependent on the cooperation of all the agencies involved in the response.

The review’s objectives are to give an unbiased account of law enforcement’s actions and reactions, to identify lessons learned and best practises to aid first responders in preparing for and responding to active shooter situations, and to offer a road map for community safety before, during, and after such incidents. At the conclusion of the review, the department will make its complete conclusions and recommendations available to the public.
