David Bedingham quits WP, sets sights on England top-order spot

David Bedingham’s contract with Western Province has expired, and he will return to English county Durham, where he has signed a three-year deal.
“Durham requested me to come back and practice with the team and prepare for the forthcoming season, and WP agreed to allow me depart at the end of January before the T20 competition,” David Bedingham said.
“WP have terminated my contract, but it ended on very good terms, with no drama… I can’t thank the coaching staff and CEO enough for the season, I really enjoyed it,” he added.
WP coach Salieg Nackerdien thanked Bedingham and wished him well for the season ahead.
“David has been a fantastic player for Western Province this season, he is the top scorer in the 4-Day Competition as it stands with 509 runs, but we always knew that he would be returning to Durham for their pre-season, and we wish him everything of the best for their season ahead. He will always be welcomed back to WP whenever possible,” Nackerdien concluded.

David Bedingham holds a UK ancestry visa

George-born Bedingham will turn 28 on 22 April.
He holds a United Kingdom ancestry visa and will no doubt have set his sights firmly on a spot in the England top-order.
The WP squad are busy preparing for the upcoming CSA T20 Challenge which gets underway on Monday, 7 February.
