Cyril Ramaphosa laments the deaths in the horrific Boksburg tanker disaster

Saturday, December 24th, a tanker exploded near OR Tambo Memorial Hospital in Boksburg, South Africa, resulting in the loss of life.

Ramaphosa stated that he is in grief for the 18 persons who perished and the substantial number of people who were injured in the blast.

WISHING THE HURT A QUICK RECOVERY

In a Tuesday morning message, the president expressed his condolences to the families and friends of those killed in the incident.

“The hearts of the nation go out to everyone affected by this tragic event.

Cyril Ramaphosa stated, “Such events are more tragic and tragic when they occur over the holiday season, when we all pray for safety and anticipate the closeness and comfort of extended time with family and friends.”

Ramaphosa noted that among the injured were hospital patients, hospital personnel, and children, as well as firefighters.

Following the explosion of the tanker, Ramaphosa expressed his gratitude for the rescue and recovery efforts by government agencies, services, and organizations such as Gift of the Givers.

In the interim, the truck driver has been arrested on suspicion of homicide by negligence, and the national and provincial health ministries have examined the hospital’s damage.

Additionally, the driver of the tanker that exploded in Boksburg has been apprehended as the death toll rises.

The metropolitan council of Ekurhuleni has begun transferring families whose homes were destroyed by the explosion.

Ramaphosa stated that all essential steps are being taken to provide aid to anyone affected by the event.

“We gain inspiration for our own efforts from the ubuntu demonstrated by communities and community-based organizations,” says Ramaphosa.

While these interventions bring us hope and light in our darkest hours, we must always maintain the resolve to avoid such catastrophes from occurring.
