The court heard that a new mother died after using cocaine on her first night out after the birth of her kid.
In July 2019, Rebecca Tollan, age 23, died in a residence in Bellshill, Lanarkshire.
Barry McAuley, 40, and Martin Stewart, 34, were brought to trial on Monday for the murder of Rebecca.
On July 14 and 15, 2019, the two are said to have given her the “possibly fatal” class A narcotic “recklessly and illegally.”
It allegedly occurred at the Railway Tavern in Motherwell, Lanarkshire, then at the residence in Bellshill.
According to the indictment, Rebecca died after consuming the medication.
McAuley and Stewart reject the charges before Glasgow’s High Court.
Pamela Tollan, 31, the sister-in-law of Rebecca, was the first witness in the trial.
In July 2019, Rebecca Tollan, age 23, passed suddenly in a home in Bellshill, Lanarkshire.
The women had gone out on July 14 and ended up in the Railway Tavern’s beer garden.
During this time, two drinks were delivered to their table, allegedly requested by two guys seated nearby whom Rebecca originally believed she recognized.
Rebecca and Pamela joined them at their table.
When prosecutor Alex Prentice KC asked the witness if she would recognize the two men, she pointed to McAuley and Stewart in the dock.
She discovered that one was named Barry-John and identified the other as Martin.
Pamela stated that they were “laughing and joking around” together.
The witness described how Rebecca, whom she knew as Becky, then inquired whether they had any “things.”
Pamela: “I knew just what she meant when she asked if they had any cocaine.”
The court heard that Barry-John then gave Pamela a little bag.
Later, when Pamela needed to use the restroom, her sister-in-law accompanied her.

Mr. Prentice: “Did you believe Becky went to the restroom for another reason?”

Pamela: “To acquire the bag.”
The jury was informed that Rebecca used cocaine in the restroom before rejoining the two guys.
They all ultimately arrived to the Bellshill residence.
Pamela remembered seeing four parallel lines of cocaine on a black plate.
When Pamela returned from the restroom, barely one line of the medication remained.
At one point, Mr. Prentice questioned the witness, “Did you take a line?”

She responded, “No, I’m a bit of a coward.”
Pamela testified at trial that she later spotted additional cocaine and believes Rebecca ingested some.
Mr. Prentice: “Were you concerned about the quantity of medication she was taking?

Pamela: “Becky was an individual. No matter how much you tried to communicate with her, she would not listen.
I did tell her, “You do not require it…you are enjoying yourself.” I informed her to cease because you do not require it.
Pamela ultimately requested that Martin call a taxi to transport the women home.
Mr. Prentice inquired if anything then transpired.
McAuley and Stewart reject the charges before Glasgow’s High Court.
Emotional Pamela stated, “Becky began trembling.” I merely thought she was icy to begin with.
“Martin inquired if she was epileptic, and I responded no,” She was placed in the recovery position by Martin.
I was asking, “What is happening to her?” while yelling, “Becky, Becky!”
Pamela remembers witnessing blood with Rebecca perhaps biting her tongue, as remembered by Pamela. She recalled that the fitting was ‘continuous’ as well.
Quickly, rescue teams arrived to assist her.
Pamela: “I continued urging Becky to proceed. I attempted to soothe her by assuring her that everything was fine.
Rebecca was attempted to be saved in her home, but she never recovered.
The court heard that Pamela’s acquaintance Barry-John was likewise ill.
Later, Stewart’s KC questioned the witness about how much alcohol the women consumed that day and night.
Donald Findlay, defending, stated, “She (Rebecca) had just given birth; was this her first outing since leaving the hospital?”

Pamela: ‘Yes.’
Mr. Findlay: “Did she refrain from drinking when pregnant?
‘
Again, the witness concurred.
The attorney for the defense speculated that she did not use cocaine either.
‘
Pamela indicated that she did not.
Mr. Findlay: “So, the last time she would have consumed alcohol was nine months ago?
‘
Pamela: ‘Yes.’
Stewart, of Viewpark, North Lanarkshire, is accused of being involved in the distribution of cocaine and cannabis separately.
McAuley, also of Bellshill, is charged with one of these cocaine-related offenses.
The trial continues before judge Lord Clark.
