The total number of complaints made to Ofcom about the King’s Coronation has exceeded 8,000, with an additional 137 new complaints recently filed by viewers across the UK.

On Sunday, BBC One aired the Coronation concert to celebrate King Charles.

The concert featured renowned performers such as Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Olly Murs, who entertained a large audience at Windsor Castle, including members of the royal family.

Majority of Complaints Relate to Adjoa Andoh’s Comments

The majority of the 137 new complaints were directed at comments made by Adjoa Andoh during the Coronation coverage.

Complaints were also lodged concerning the continuous coverage of the King’s Coronation across multiple channels throughout the entire weekend.

Television Schedule and Channel 4’s Alternative Approach

The Coronation ceremony was broadcast live on BBC One, BBC Two, and BBC iPlayer, with coverage starting as early as 7:30 in the morning.

The Celebration program followed at 1:00 PM on BBC One and BBC Two, with sign language availability on BBC Two.

The Coronation Concert aired at 8:00 PM from Windsor Castle on multiple platforms, including BBC One, BBC iPlayer, BBC Radio 2, and BBC Sounds.

ITV also provided extensive coverage, beginning with a special edition of Good Morning Britain at 6:00 AM.

ITV1 and ITVX aired six and a half hours of uninterrupted live coverage from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM.

Channel 4, however, took a different approach and intentionally offered an alternative to the grandeur of the Coronation events, aiming to provide an escape from the pomp and ceremony that dominated elsewhere.
