After sustaining a ruptured pectoral tendon, WWE superstar Cody Rhodes underwent successful surgery.

After suffering a severe injury, the American Nightmare was in bad health heading into last weekend’s Hell In A Cell bout with Seth Freakin’ Rollins, but he still put on a show for the fans and wrestled in a brutal match.

Cody intimated on Monday Night Raw earlier this week that he would appear at Money In The Bank on July 2 after undergoing surgery, only to be thrashed again by The Visionary.

After his treatment on Thursday, Rhodes’ wife Brandi has provided fans an update.

She tweeted: ‘The doctor just repaired Cody’s pectoral tendon which was torn completely off the bone. Successful surgery. He is on the road to recovery now.’

It’s thought the former Intercontinental Champion could face up to six months out of action due to the nature of the injury.

Rhodes previously addressed fans at Chicago’s Allstate Arena off-air after Sunday’s Hell In A Cell show and insisted he alone decided the match would go ahead.

‘I’m sure I’m gonna explain things a little further tomorrow, I’ll be very brief. No one convinced me, with a torn pec, to come out here. It was solely my decision,’ he said.

‘You would have to literally kill me from staying away from this ring. Ten times out of ten, I would have made the same decision.’

Bianca Belair began the night by retaining her Raw Women’s Championship in an instant classic against Becky Lynch and Asuka, while Theory retained the United States Championship despite Mustafa Ali’s best attempts.

In a grueling No Holds Barred match, Madcap Moss exacted some vengeance on Happy Corbin, and The Judgement Day (Edge, Damian Priest, and Rhea Ripley) defeated AJ Styles, Finn Balor, and Liv Morgan.

With the help of Cedric Alexander, Bobby Lashley defeated MVP and Omos, while Kevin Owens pinned Ezekiel.
