This past weekend, 5 February, in Los Angeles, South African artists Zakes Bantwini, Wouter Kellerman, and Nomcebo Zikode won a Grammy for Best Global Music Performance for their collaboration song titled Bayethe; Twitter users trolled Black Coffee for not congratulating his former friend despite their falling out over a decade ago.

During their 2009 debut, Zakes Bantwini and Black Coffee kept Mzansi on its toes with banger singles like as Wasting My Time, JuJu, and Take It All Off.

The music industry titans were tight but finally parted ways. Briefly claims that they had not collaborated in years due to their rumored feud, which was driven by the politics of the competitive music industry.

After Zakes Bantwini released the smash single Osamo in 2021, TshisaLIVE reported that Black Coffee stated he would not play the song in his concerts since it was not his style of music. He then sent out a Tweet that stated,

“Yes, my musical reputation is founded on my personal preferences. It’s always been that way, and also not all songs I enjoy belong in my sets, although in my last tweet I remarked, “Osama is a fire song.”

Yeah, my musical reputation has always been built on what I enjoy, and not all songs I like belong on my shows, but as I mentioned in my initial tweet, Osama is a banger.

Black Coffee won a Grammy at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards in 2022, and Zakes Bantwini won his at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards just a few days ago.

On 7 February, only two days after Zakes Bantwini revealed he had won a Grammy, Black Coffee shared a photo of the late Ricky Rick on Twitter. On February 23 of last year, the Sidlukotini hitmaker passed away, and Twitter users questioned why the We Dance Again hitmaker would Tweet about Ricky Rick instead of celebrating his former friend despite their falling out.

For old times’ sake, music enthusiasts begged with Black Coffee to applaud Zakes Bantwini, despite their feud.
Fans and Twitter followers of Black Coffee questioned when he would congratulate Zakes Bantwini on his Grammy triumph. Photograph courtesy of Instagram “Alright, Mr For Life. Where is Zake’s brother extending his congratulations? @papiss v2 asked.

“You didn’t congratulate @ZakesBantwiniSA on his Grammy, did you?” @SandileCharles3 posed the question.

When will you congratulate him via @ZakesBantwiniSA? sbudatherocket asked.

“Grootman, Zakes won. Did you see?” ThaboMahlakoane asked.

“What does Zakes say?” lowkiblxck was requested.
