Christy Uba, the Director of Information and Communications Technology for the National Youth Service Corps, has been appointed acting Director-General.
She is the first woman to lead the NYSC since the organization’s inception over fifty years ago.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by Eddy Megwa, the Director of Press and Public Relations for the National Youth Service Corps, the appointment was made after President Muhammadu Buhari (ret.) dismissed Brigadier General Muhammad Kaku Fadah from his post as DG.
According to the announcement, Mrs. Uba will oversee NYSC until a formal Director General is appointed.
“The scheme’s most senior director has assumed oversight of the corps pending the nomination of a permanent Director General by the President,” Megwa added.
