Christina Applegate makes her first awards show appearance after her diagnosis with Multiple Sclerosis

Since revealing her multiple sclerosis diagnosis, Christina Applegate made her first awards show appearance.

On Sunday night at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, the “Dead to Me” star was photographed in the audience but not on the red carpet for the 2023 Critics’ Choice Awards.

Applegate, 51, brought her 11-year-old daughter Sadie as her plus-one, dressed in a fashionable black suit and holding a cane. In addition, she was seen hugging fellow candidate Julia Roberts.

In August 2021, Applegate announced on Twitter that she had been diagnosed with a chronic condition that affects the central nervous system.

“Hi buddies. Recently, I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. It has been an unusual journey. However, I have received tremendous support from those who share my condition,” she stated at the time.

It’s been a difficult journey. However, as we all know, the path continues. Unless some jerk obstructs it.”

The “Dead to Me” actor gave Julia Roberts a hug at the 2023 Critics’ Choice Awards.

A few months later, while celebrating a milestone birthday, the “Married… with Children” veteran opened up about her health issues.

“Yup. Today I turned fifty years old. And I have Multiple Sclerosis,” she tweeted in November 2021. “It’s been a difficult one. Sending you all so much love on this day.

“Many are suffering today, and you are in my thoughts. May we discover the strength to raise our heads. Currently, mine is on my pillow. But I attempt”

Sunday, Applegate was nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance as Jen Harding on “Dead to Me,” but she ultimately lost to Jean Smart from “Hacks.”

In November 2022, while promoting the third and final season of her Netflix series, Applegate revealed that she had gained 40 pounds due to her terrible disease.

She recently expressed her apprehension about attending the Critics’ Choice Awards.

Therefore, this Sunday will be the first awards ceremony I’ve attended since 2019. And the first since MS. SCARED! However, I am appreciative to @CriticsChoice for including me,” she said.

The “Anchorman” star has previously dealt with health concerns.

She underwent a double mastectomy for breast cancer in 2008 and had her ovaries and Fallopian tubes removed in 2017 to prevent ovarian cancer.
