Charges for stealing property and vehicles, Darling Downs

Toowoomba detectives investigating a number of recent property, car, and driving-related crimes have arrested three juveniles, including a 16-year-old lad who was charged with 21 crimes, including vehicle theft, robbery, and reckless driving.

It will be alleged that a Toyota Rav 4 stolen during a home invasion in Kearney Springs in the early hours of January 15 was seen at a number of property crimes committed in the Wilsonton Heights, Rangeville, and Oakey areas on Sunday, including attempted home invasions, thefts, and threats of violence.

Police will also say that the stolen car was driven recklessly and at high speeds around the Tooowomba region yesterday, with police, including Polair, tracing its movements.

Polair continued to pursue the stolen vehicle while relaying information to authorities on the ground.

The driver, believed to be a teenager, was detained at a service station on Campbell Road, Oakey, at approximately 5.15 p.m., when he exited the vehicle.

When he was apprehended, police will allege he was carrying a gel blaster and attempting to steal another vehicle.

The 16-year-old boy from Centenary Heights will appear before the Toowoomba Childrens Court charged with 21 offences, including – (child under 18) – four counts each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and receiving tainted property, as well as three counts of unlicensed driving, two counts each of enter premises and commit indictable offence and stealing, and one count each of dangerous driving, threatening violence, no authority to possess explosives (ammunition), robbery,

Two 17-year-old girls from Kingaroy and Kearney Springs were arrested at the scene as alleged passengers in a Toyota Rav 4.

One has been charged with two charges of illegal use of a motor vehicle and is scheduled to appear at a later date in the Toowoomba Children’s Court.

The second girl was prosecuted under the Youth Justices Act for four charges of illegal use of a motor vehicle and one count of possession of a drug implement.

There were no physical injuries, and police investigations continue.
