Businesses eligible for Nigerian Youth Investment Fund

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has released a list of qualifying businesses and projects for the Nigeria Youth Investment Fund (NYIF).

Eligible Businesses and Activities for the NYIF

In the framework, the CBN also detailed the firms and activities that legally qualify for participation in the plan. These consist of:

Technology/Innovation
Agriculture and associated supply chain
Sector of Green Economy and Renewable energy
Manufacturing
Hospitality/Tourism
Construction
Logistics and distribution chain
The healthcare supply chain
Creative industry
Commerce and services
Others as selected from time to time by NYIF/CBN.

However, according to the CBN, preference must be given to firms that would promote the expansion of priority industries.

Non-Eligible Businesses for NYIF Registration

The release lists the following applicants as ineligible for the Nigerian Youth Investment Fund:
Unpaid NIRSAL Microfinance Bank (NMFB) loans, including Targeted Credit Facility (TCF) and Agribusiness/Small and Medium Enterprises Investment Scheme (AgSMEIS) loans.

In addition, recipients of other outstanding government loan programs are ineligible to enroll in this program.
