Burglar claims he was robbed by the police

On January 22nd, a housebreaker said he was robbed by South African Police Service (SAPS) officers on Trevenen Road in Lotusville, KwaZulu-Natal.

Officers who responded to a murder/robbery on Wick Street in the central business district of Verulam identified the suspect as a wanted burglar.

Officers approached the 31-year-old resident of Trenance Park with a video of him exiting a property with a stolen gazebo.

The homeowner published the video on social media after discovering that forceful entry had been utilized to obtain entrance to her residence.

During an interview, the suspect revealed to members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) that the individual in the video was his identical twin brother.

After officers determined that he did not have a twin sibling, he eventually confessed to the home invasion.

He said that he was stopped by two men enjoying lunch in the Lotusville Pool parking lot on Adams Road after fleeing the property.

They inquired about the pavilion he was holding.

After a robbery, a homeowner tracks down and apprehends the suspect.

He acknowledged that the two individuals were police officers who had detained him for an unrelated violation in the past.

They told him to place the gazebo into a white, unmarked Nissan NP 200 that was parked next a white Volkswagen Polo.

Then, he was instructed to depart. He assumed that both were state-owned automobiles.

Officers performed a background investigation.

This showed that he completed a 24-month sentence at Westville Prison for cocaine trafficking in 2012.
