Body of man, 24, found at Fortitude Valley train station, Brisbane after fight between groups

A young man was slain after being involved in a violent fight close to a Brisbane train station.

Around 4 am on Monday, Lauie Michael Tagaloa, 24, was discovered dead in the Valley Metro food court located above the Fortitude Valley train station.

Three men who ran away from the incident were later discovered with a weapon on platform 4, and they are now assisting police with their inquiries.

Inspector Sean Cryer of the Queensland Police claimed that while officers were observing the CCTV system of the Brisbane City Council, a brawl between two sizable groups broke out.

‘On closer examination they saw a male person lying on the ground and persons nearby had blood on them,’ he said.

The man’s death, according to Inspector Cryer, involved a “large number of persons.”

Mr. Tagaloa received CPR from paramedics, but it was not enough to save him.

The victim was described as a “good bloke” who “always stuck up for himself and his mates” by a friend to the Courier Mail.

The 24-year-old is believed to have been stabbed.

After the incident, the victim’s friends attempted to revive him.

The victim’s father was reportedly present at the scene before being led away, according to the publication.

The incident has not disrupted train operations, and a large number of police officers are still on the scene.

The Valley Metro shopping centre has been sealed off by police, and locals have been advised to enter through the back entrance.
