Bobby Okereke has signed with the New York Giants as a free agent and will not be repeating the mistake he made in practice against Daniel Jones the last time they shared a field.

During their previous encounter, Okereke was penalized for unnecessary roughness when he lowered his shoulder into Jones’ helmet, causing a skirmish between the Giants and Colts on New Year’s Day.

However, Okereke joked that Jones will be safe during practice due to his non-contact jersey.

Although players have long memories, Okereke and Jones cleared the air after the game, and Okereke stated that there would probably be some fun trash talk between them.

He left the Colts to sign a four-year, $40 million contract with the Giants, where he will become a pillar of the defence as a middle and weakside linebacker.

Okereke is known for his sideline-to-sideline range, closing speed, physicality, and coverage skills, which are essential in the Giants’ blitz-heavy defence.

Okereke expressed excitement about playing for the Giants, stating that it was a unique opportunity because it was a great offer and a great team fit.

He also revealed that he had always wanted to play in New York City.

Okereke identified his best chance to accomplish his goal of winning games, which was playing behind All-Pro defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence and his former Pro Bowl running mate Leonard Williams, who will replicate his success teaming with DeForest Buckner and Grover Stewart in Indianapolis.

He will also be playing next to premium draft picks Kayvon Thibodeaux and Azeez Ojulari.

Okereke teased that he would be blitzing a lot more with the Giants, which he is excited about because he loves playing fast and physically.

He wants to eliminate thinking and just have fast decision-making. Okereke acknowledged the Giants’ linebacker tradition and was grateful for the opportunity to be a part of it.

He earned his chance to join the club with his 17 New Year’s Day tackles against Jones and the Giants.
