Blue Jays gifts John Schneider free drink for saving woman’s life

On Saturday, Blue Jays manager John Schneider saved a life and received recognition right away.

Schneider, who was dining with his wife at the time, realized no one else at the customer’s table understood what to do for the lady who was choking, so he did the Heimlich technique on her while they were still still at the restaurant in Dunedin, Florida.

Right spot, perfect time,” Schneider told reporters on Sunday. You can either help or you can’t, so I made the decision to walk over and see if I could.

The 43-year-old manager said that since the sixth grade, he hasn’t exercised the life-saving technique.

Schneider, on the other hand, “did a couple [of] Heimlichs” and freed the lady from the shrimp she was choking on. He was given a complimentary drink as a gift.

After that, I was a little rattled, but the beer did help, Schneider said.

After being appointed temporary manager for the Blue Jays last season, Schneider guided them to a wild-card place. He signed a three-year agreement over the offseason to continue leading Toronto.
