Bill Maher calls Trump’s political maneuvering impressive, but evil

Bill Maher, presenter of Real Time, has grudgingly praised Donald Trump, calling the former president’s ability to rid the Republican Party of political adversaries during the primary season ‘amazing’.Georgia's incumbent Republican Governor Brian Kemp, despised by Trump for certifying the state's 2020 vote for Biden, easily survived a challenge from a Trump-endorsed opponent

’85 percent of the people Trump endorsed won: 151 out of 178,’ claimed the commentator on Friday’s installment of his HBO show, referring to GOP candidates Trump endorsed in primaries. Say what you want about Mr. Evil, but what a politician he is! I mean, that’s impressive — in a terrible manner, but impressive nonetheless,’ Maher remarked.On Tuesday, Trump's arch-nemesis Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming lost in a landslide GOP primary defeat to a challenger endorsed by the former presidentTrump's grip on the Republican Party has been evident throughout the US primary election seasonReal Time host Bill Maher has offered grudging praise to Donald Trump, saying the former president's political maneuvering is 'impressive'

‘Ten members of Congress voted to impeach him, and he has pledged to eliminate them all — it’s like a Tarantino film, he’ll get them all!’ He received an eight out of ten,’ he noted.

Throughout the US primary election season, during which the parties select their candidates to square battle in November’s general election, Trump’s hold on the Republican Party has been clear.

Rep. Liz Cheney was defeated in a landslide Tuesday in the Wyoming Republican primary by a candidate backed by Trump.

Cheney fell by a staggering 37 points to Trump-backed Harriet Hageman, the fourth worst loss by an incumbent since 1968. Cheney, the daughter of a former vice president, was Trump’s most strident Republican Party opponent, even joining the congressional committee investigating the January 6 attack on the US Capitol and Trump’s role in stoking the flames.

Trump gloated over Cheney’s primary defeat, mocking her as’sanctimonious’ and ‘foolish’ for claiming that his accusations of a rigged election were bogus.

J.D. Vance in Ohio, Dr. Mehmet Oz in Pennsylvania, and Blake Masters in Arizona all won difficult Senate primary elections with the help of Trump’s endorsement. A handful of Trump’s favorite candidates suffered major defeats, despite their overall victory.

Despite receiving Trump’s endorsement, former US Senator David Perdue came nowhere near unseating Georgia’s incumbent Republican Governor Brian Kemp.

Trump loathed Kemp for certifying President Joe Biden’s victory in that state, and he vowed to defeat him in the primary.

Perdue, who reiterated Trump’s unsubstantiated accusations that widespread voting fraud cost him the 2020 Georgia election, conceded to Kemp shortly after polls closed on May 24.

Despite Trump’s interference on behalf of Kelly Tshibaka in Alaska, moderate Sen. Lisa Murkowski was able to retain the Republican nomination. Four of the ten Republican congressmen who voted to impeach Trump over the Capitol riot did not seek re-election, while four others, including Cheney, were defeated in the party’s primary.

Rep. Dan Newhouse of Washington and Rep. Nancy Mace of South Carolina are the two that survived to seek re-election in November’s general election.

Murkowski is the only Republican senator who voted to convict Trump who has had to run for reelection after her vote.

This year, Senators Richard Burr of North Carolina and Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania announced their retirement.

This year, the other four Senators who voted “guilty” did not face re-election.;
