Ben Simmons, the former All-Star player for the Brooklyn Nets, missed their recent game against the Milwaukee Bucks due to a sore left knee. The team has also ruled him out of their next game against the New York Knicks. Coach Jacque Vaughn refused to provide any substantial information about Simmons’ recovery process or the timeline for his return. He did, however, emphasize that there have been no talks about shutting Simmons down for the rest of the season. Vaughn stated that the team is focused on strengthening Simmons’ knee to prevent any recurrence of swelling or further complications.

When the Nets initially benched Simmons last Friday, he stated that he would be reevaluated in a week. At that time, Vaughn confirmed that there were no plans to shut down Simmons and reiterated that statement again. Although Vaughn declined to provide details on Simmons’ daily routine, he noted that it primarily involved strengthening exercises, including weight-room workouts, conditioning drills, and basketball-specific exercises.

Edmond Sumner, the Nets’ point guard, was scratched from the Bucks game due to personal reasons. Later, he revealed on Twitter that his wife had given birth. Sumner’s status for their game against the Boston Celtics on Friday remains unclear. Yuta Watanabe, who was also out due to back soreness, could potentially play against the Knicks on Wednesday, but the coach was unsure.

Giannis Antetokuonmpo, who missed the Bucks’ win over the Phoenix Suns on Sunday due to a right quad contusion, scored 33 points in the game against the Nets. Wesley Matthews was out for the Bucks.

The Nets’ loss to the Bucks resulted in them dropping to sixth place in the Eastern Conference, with the Knicks ahead of them by one game. The two teams will face off against each other at Madison Square Garden, with the Knicks currently on a six-game winning streak.
