Argentina celebrates Birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

At the British Ambassador’s Residence in Argentina, the British Embassy commemorated Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday. More than 800 people attended the celebration, including national and provincial government officials, legislators from various parties, businesses, diplomats, academics, artists, journalists, and members of civil society.

Kirsty Hayes, the British Ambassador to Argentina, outlined some of Elizabeth II’s major achievements during her speech. The ceremony also honored the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, as she became the first British monarch to reach 70 years on the throne in February.

The Ambassador also discussed some of the areas in which the UK and Argentina collaborate bilaterally. “I am enthusiastic about Argentina’s future,” she said, “and you should know that you will always have a partner in the United Kingdom to help you grow.” As we have seen with vaccinations, we have many projects ahead of us and many potential to profit from cooperation, but the same could be said for a wide range of other areas, including trade, tourism, education, technology, and environmental protection.”

The local Queen’s Birthday celebration was declared carbon neutral for the first time. This action will help fund native tree planting in the Lann National Park.

Guests sung the national anthems of Argentina and the United Kingdom, which were performed by the Salvation Army band, during the celebration. Mr. Kite, a Liverpool-based rock band, also paid tribute to the Beatles with a collection of Beatles songs. Selector, the British Council’s weekly radio show, was hosted by DJ Maxi Martina, who played a mix of the best British music of all time.

The event was supported by a number of British companies who had the opportunity to showcase their products and services bearing the UK hallmark of excellence.
